Robot system for adhesive assembly of Nissan Spoilers The full system designed and supplied by AMT including loading rotary table, curing and clamp fixtures, adhesive pumping and metering, grippers, guarding and programming. The operator loads a top and bottom spoiler moulding onto the rotary table nest which indexes into the robot cell. The robot system will automatically apply adhesive to the outer moulding and the robot will assemble the inner moulding to the outer moulding for a 3 to 3.5 minute cure. A 6 axis handling robot with its vacuum gripper will manipulate the outer moulding under an adhesive gun to apply the adhesive bead. |

The robot will assemble the mouldings between 4 curing fixtures and the automatic clamps will clamp the assemblies for the cure time. The robot will unload finished assemblies at the correct timings to ensure a bonded assembly is achieved each cycle to the high quality standards demanded. Adhesive application equipment with a static mixer will mix and meter the two component adhesive to the 10/1 ratio. The automatic gel timer will purge the gun if the adhesive is passed its set open time. AMT were in co-operation with the adhesive supplier to select a fast cure adhesive with a quick cure time to achieve a high output thru the curing fixtures without being burdened with a lot of expensive curing fixtures. The robot with the special adhesive metering equipment provides consistent adhesive laydown with a reliable adhesive ratio mix including precise material flow out of the nozzle to ensure a bead of adhesive is the same each cycle. The assembly of the mouldings is achieved by utilising CNC machined fixtures to clamp the mouldings accurately. Repeatable quality being the main requirement and being performed by the robot system. |
